Meet Wumi

Wumi Akinlofa, is a warm, collaborative therapist who creates a space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University and holds an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and a BS in Psychology from the University of Ado-Ekiti.

Grounded in a cognitive-behavioral approach, Wumi helps clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to anxiety, depression, stress, anger, relationship concerns, academic issues, and PTSD. She also supports clients through identity exploration, cultural and generational challenges, life transitions, grief and loss, low self-esteem, and adjustment-related concerns.

Wumi enjoys working across the lifespan—children, teens, and adults—tailoring care to each client’s developmental stage and goals. Her experience includes providing case management and mental health support to incarcerated individuals, with a focus on reentry planning and access to community resources. Culturally responsive and strengths-based, she partners with clients to build trust and craft practical strategies for healing and growth. Clients describe her presence as steady, compassionate, and empowering. Outside the therapy room, Wumi loves listening to music, cooking, spending time in nature, and relaxing with her family.
